Don't let it break your heart. He just doesn't want to have a best friend as he is picky. Like his gifts, he only wants "quality" friends. He also doesn't like hurting anyone's feeling as you can see from his answer for #4.

Yes he does have a best friend, he has two: Tyler and Finn. Who needs more than that?
